The Best of 2015

CamariePhoto-23

2015 was a wonderful year! I had the privilege and honor to work with so many great brides and grooms that reminiscing while selecting my favorite photos brought a smile to my face. It is always an honor when a couple interests me as their wedding photographer, so I wanted to give another special thanks to each and every one of my couples who made 2015 so very memorable.

It was no easy task picking just ONE favorite from every wedding I photographed this year, so please note that every wedding had MANY favorites and narrowing down to only one photo was beyond difficult.

So here it goes, my favorites from 2015.

B ecca and Andrew’s wedding day was filled with all kinds of pretty details and surprises. Flower crowns, cigar bars, monogrammed suspenders (and socks), and choreographed dances were some of many memories of their big day.

Wedding Day Timelines: You Can Breathe Now

CamariePhotography-11

Wedding days are hectic… even that is an understatement. Not just for the photographer, but for all parties involved. Bridesmaids need to get their hair and makeup done to perfection while keeping track of their dresses, shoes, jewelry, and of the bride of course. Coordinators must scurry about to fine tune those last minute details. The florist is putting the finishing touches to their elaborate centerpieces. The groom and his guys… well they’re basically kicking back a few brewskis to help calm their bro’s nerves. You have a whirlwind of crazy hovering over you and you need to be able to remain calm and get things done. So much is happening that day, and so much needs to be documented that there’s no time to be overwhelmed. Continue reading this post »

Mui & Paul

Long Beach Museum of Art weddings-35

T he day before, it had been pouring rain. However, the sun was out and the temperature was warm- making it the perfect day for a wedding. Mui and Paul married at The Long Beach Museum of Art in Long Beach, California. It was a stunning venue- all outdoors within walking distance to the coast.

Nadeau Family

CamariePhoto-1

It’s heading into the summer season- which means school is almost out and family vacations will commence. So, why not plan a family photo session while you’re visiting the beaches in sunny California?

Although Cryss and her family are California natives, they were nonetheless wonderful to work with. I especially loved their outfits! That’s right, coordinating your outfits is huge when planning for family photos. That’s not to say that everyone needs to be matching like twins, but coordinating colors translates well in photographs.

Alissa & Dalton

CamariePhotography-14

Although the two JUST said their “I Do’s” this past Saturday, I couldn’t resist sharing their engagement session. Besides being the sweetest and cutest couple ever, these two had a natural chemistry that they did not shy away from even with an intimidating camera pointed at them. Continue reading this post »

Jen & Bryan

CamariePhotography-7

I met Jen and Bryan on their wedding day, and Jen is just so adorable! The couple DROVE from Winnipeg, Canada with their family and friends to celebrate their nuptials. For a small, intimate wedding at Escena Golf Club in Palm Springs, California the lovely couple had a great turn out! At least 50 guests traveled from Canada to celebrate this joyous occasion with these two lovebirds. Continue reading this post »

Jane & Kenton

Jane and Kenton met at UCLA (Go Bruins!) so it only made sense to take their engagement photos there. I loved the beautiful architecture, brick walls, and arches that Royce Hall lent for this romantic e-session.

Film Stocks & Scans: My First Experience with Film

Camariephotography-1

F ilm. It has always held a special place in my heart. I was first introduced to photography when digital wasn’t really a thought. It’s hard to believe that most photographers still used film as their main medium only twelve years ago. I was captivated by every process that went into film. From loading black and white film stock into my 1983 Minolta XG-A to carefully and thoughtfully mixing the chemicals to develop the film- then taking it with photo paper into the darkroom where I’d meticulously timed and exposed my film onto the paper using an enlarger. I went down the line: chemicals, water, chemicals, water, then hung the photo to dry. I can still hear my photography instructor, a Corona High School legend- Mr. Nino, utter his favorite response when I turned in my project, “Spot toning!”.
